It’s time to release some songs, in fact it’s long overdue. The Orphan Songs debut first came out in 2008. That’s five years ago! Well, I have been busy with other musical projects, both with Daddy Donut – my kids project and with the Neil Young tributes. But now I feel I really have to make an Orphan Songs album. I’m not sure yet if it will be an EP or a full album, but I’m aiming for an EP.
The working title is “Press D for depression”. One of the songs that will be on the EP is called “To be left alone“. A friend of mine once said it was the most depessing song he ever heard. It’s about how we deliberatly destroy our planet. However, it’s rather tounge-in-cheek too. The songs in the upcoming relase are both humourous and dead serious. They share a common theme in that they all deal with the fact that we are making a mess of the world, not taking responsibility for the planet or ourselves. “Save the banks” deals with the absurdity of bank bailouts, “Not made to last” is about planned obsolescence. There will also be a brand new song I wrote last week called “We are idiots”.
This might not be the follow-up to “Orphan Songs” many of you have been waiting for, but that’s how I’ve planned it. My music-making is all over the place nowadays and I decided to group these songs together and get themout there now for several reasons. Well, now you know what to expect from this release: wild socio-economic commentary from Sweden. 🙂
Scheduled release date: January 2014.
